The old kitchen’s snug design welcomed cooks but checked guests at the peninsula’s pink tile counter. To create a space large enough for the family and their intimate entertaining, the designer suggested knocking down the wall separating the kitchen and formal dining room. The room’s look would also be updated with stainless steel appliances and recessed panel cabinets.
