To keep the dark wood from feeling oppressive, the designers added glass panels on most of the wall cabinets. Where a dark ceiling with a soffit over the island had hung ominously, a new ceiling sports white paint and recessed lighting. Dual stainless steel custom range hoods framed by tall glass-front cabinets serve as a focal point on the polished granite backsplash. See next slide.
