Designer Notes

Architectural motifs create unity in design in this Italian-style kitchen. Arches repeat in the kitchen’s design, creating work zones over the sink and range walls as well as visual interest in doorways and windows. Even the cabinetry toe kicks echo the room’s arch theme. Reclaimed wood beams span the ceiling and copper wraps around the range hood, cementing the kitchen’s Old World feel and drawing the eye upward. To maintain a furniture look, the designer chose a warm wood tone for the kitchen island and cabinetry in sage green with a cocoa patina for the walls. Panels conceal an integrated refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. Posts lining the kitchen island, large crown molding topping the cabinets, and a separate red hutch for storage also help maintain the unfitted look of this Italianate kitchen.
