What kind of kitchen would you have if you had no restrictions? If space, time and money presented no obstacles? If this dream kitchen could exist in your dream home instead of your actual residence?
Kitchens.com decided to pose that question to five top designers to see what happened when they allowed themselves to dream big. Get crazy, we said. OK, they said.
The resulting kitchens showcase a wide range of influences, from childhood memories to adult hobbies, gardens to factories, contemporary simplicity to traditional charm. What the kitchens share is an openness to the rest of the home, a connection to the outdoors, a lack of fuss or formality, and a space plan conducive to cooking and entertaining.
Best of all, they're open to everyone. Come on in and see pictures, floor plans, and interviews with the designers—think of it as an open house for the imagination.
Your Favorite Kitchen Design
As determined by visitor votes via sweepstakes, “Timeless Elegance,” a classic white kitchen designed by Julia Johnston of Kitchens for Cooking in Boca Raton, FL, was the viewer favorite. Jenn-Air made a $5,000 donation to DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) in Julia's honor.
In addition, homeowner Tracee S. of Harviell, MO, received a Jenn-Air beverage center and a kitchen design consultation with Julia Johnston. Tracee and her family are in the middle of building a new home and planning for a new kitchen at the heart of it. Images of her prospective new kitchen will be here soon.
