Cottage Kitchen
“The owner wanted an English Cottage-style kitchen for her
lake home, so we focused on adding charm and coziness. We used
maple cabinets with a stained and distressed heirloom finish
to give them the patina of time. Adding furniture toe board to
the sink cabinet gave it a furniture look. The burgundy and
green of the hand painted tile backsplash softened the natural
stone-like tile. Like homes in the English countryside, we
used rope molding, a carved wooden hood, rustic wood floor,
and bead board on the back of the island. The lake view is a
focal point of the kitchen. The small window above the sink
was visually enlarged by angling leaded glass cabinets on both
sides to open up this area.”
