Farmhouse Kitchen

“The challenge of this turn-of-the-century farmhouse was to
provide a kitchen that would function for the clients’
lifestyle in the new millennium while retaining the
architectural integrity of the house. We went with a
Shaker-style cabinet with inset panel doors in a dark stain,
in fitting with the time period. The natural maple floors and
butcher block island top, reminiscent of the chopping and food
prep that was a staple of early 20th-century life, nicely
contrast with the rich cherry wood of the refrigerator, pantry and oven cabinets.

the refrigerator to blend in with the rest of the room. The
framed Sub-Zero model was chosen over the overlay series
because the single pull cabinet knob was not recommended and
the client liked the traditional full-length handle. We chose
simple black wrought-iron knobs for the cabinets. The clean
lines of cabinet moldings imitate those of the windows. In
this kitchen, a simple, clean look was key.”
